New drug may speed wound healing for rare blistering skin conditions

NCT ID NCT07011589

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether the drug efgartigimod (VYVGART) can help people with two rare blistering skin diseases—recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) and epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA)—by lowering harmful antibodies that attack the skin. About 18 participants aged 12 and older will receive the drug through an IV, and some will also get a gene therapy gel (VYJUVEK) on wounds. The goal is to see if wounds heal faster and quality of life improves.
