First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether acupuncture given in the emergency department can safely reduce acute muscle or bone pain and lessen the need for opioid painkillers. About 600 adults with pain lasting 7 days or less were randomly assigned to ear acupuncture, body acupuncture, or no acupuncture. Researchers measured pain levels, function, and satisfaction over one month to see if this drug-free option works.
