Inhalation therapy tested to protect aging lungs from decline
NCT ID NCT01225965
Summary
This study tested whether inhaling a solution containing ectoin could reduce lung inflammation and slow the decline of lung function in older women with COPD. Researchers enrolled 36 non-smoking or former smoking women aged 75-80 to use the inhalation treatment. The goal was to see if this approach could protect the lungs by lowering inflammatory markers and preserving breathing capacity over time.
