Does specialized Life-Support unit save more lives?
NCT ID NCT05154071
Summary
This study looked back at patient records to see if creating a dedicated, specialized unit for a specific type of life-support machine (called ECMO) helped more patients survive. Researchers compared outcomes for 172 critically ill adults who received ECMO support at a French hospital before and after the new unit was set up. The main goal was to see if organizing care in this way lowered the death rate.
