New staging method could sharpen lung cancer radiation decisions

NCT ID NCT02719847

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding a special scope test (EBUS-TBNA) after a standard PET/CT scan can more accurately stage early-stage non-small cell lung cancer. About 150 patients who were being considered for precise radiation therapy (SBRT) took part. The goal was to see if the extra test helps doctors better determine if the cancer has spread to lymph nodes, which could change treatment plans.
