Surgery sooner or later? study tests best timing for gut infection
NCT ID NCT05942833
Summary
This study aims to find out if having surgery soon after a severe diverticulitis flare-up leads to better quality of life compared to waiting several weeks for an elective operation. It involves 136 adults with confirmed, complicated left-sided diverticulitis. Participants are randomly assigned to receive surgery within about 10 days or to wait 6-8 weeks, and their recovery and well-being are compared using questionnaires.
