Surgery sooner or later? study tests best timing for gut infection
NCT ID NCT05942833
Summary
This study aims to find out if having surgery soon after a severe diverticulitis flare-up leads to better quality of life compared to waiting 6-8 weeks for a planned operation. About 136 patients with confirmed, complicated, or frequently recurring diverticulitis will be randomly assigned to either early surgery or delayed surgery. Researchers will measure recovery, complications, and quality of life using questionnaires to see which timing is better for patients.
