Ultrasound within 12 minutes may predict cardiac arrest outcomes

NCT ID NCT03494153

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looked at 346 adults who had a cardiac arrest outside the hospital. Doctors used an ultrasound within the first 12 minutes of CPR to see if the heart was still. The goal was to find out if a still heart on ultrasound can predict whether the person will survive or not. The results could help doctors make faster decisions about treatments like ECMO or organ donation.
