First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at whether washing out the ankle joint with saline within 48 hours of a fracture could lower harmful inflammation and cartilage breakdown. Researchers measured changes in inflammatory markers and cartilage products in the joint fluid of 41 adults. The goal was to understand if early intervention could protect the joint before surgery.
