New genetic test aims to spot hidden lung infections in ventilated children

Summary
This study will test a new genetic method (called mNGS) to quickly identify the germs causing pneumonia in 400 children who are on breathing machines. The goal is to see if this test is more accurate than standard lab cultures. If successful, it could lead to faster, more targeted treatment for these seriously ill children.
