Pedaling in bed: a new way to get spine surgery patients moving faster
NCT ID NCT07506720
First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at whether using a special exercise bike while lying in bed, just one day after spine surgery, can help people get up and move sooner. About 88 adults having planned spine surgery will be split into two groups: one gets standard care plus a 30-minute in-bed cycling session, the other gets standard care alone. Researchers will track how much time each person spends in bed and how long they stay in the hospital, to see if early movement speeds up recovery.
