Smart insulin system could change life for kids with diabetes

NCT ID NCT07423637

First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at whether starting automated insulin delivery (AID) early in children aged 7–16 with new type 1 diabetes leads to better blood sugar control, less stress for families, fewer long-term complications, and is worth the cost compared to daily injections. About 100 kids will be randomly assigned to either AID or standard injections with a glucose monitor. The goal is to see if the higher upfront cost of AID pays off with better health and quality of life over time.
