Zapping the ear to calm the brain after a stroke?

NCT ID NCT04557618

Summary

This study is testing if a gentle, non-invasive stimulation of a nerve in the ear can help people recover from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a serious type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. Researchers will see if this stimulation lowers harmful inflammation in the body and brain fluid, and if it leads to fewer complications and better long-term recovery. About 50 participants who have had this type of stroke will be randomly assigned to receive either the real stimulation or a sham (fake) treatment.
