Radiation may stop Dupuytren's hand disease in its tracks
NCT ID NCT07661342
First seen Jun 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether radiation therapy can prevent Dupuytren's contracture—a condition where fingers bend toward the palm—from progressing or coming back after treatment. About 158 adults will receive radiation to the hand, and researchers will measure changes in finger straightness over time. The goal is to find a non-surgical way to control the disease.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
radiation therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a way to slow or stop Dupuytren's contracture from getting worse, reducing the need for surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 158 participants, and radiation therapy carries risks like skin irritation or long-term side effects. It may not prevent progression for everyone.
