Brain-Boosting workouts may help seniors overcome fear of falling

NCT ID NCT07427225

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding mental challenges (like memory tasks) to physical exercise helps older adults in nursing homes feel less afraid of falling and actually lowers their fall risk. About 54 residents aged 65+ will be split into two groups: one doing standard strength and balance exercises, the other doing the same exercises while also performing cognitive tasks. The goal is to see if dual-task training better breaks the cycle of fear and inactivity that often leads to more falls.
