New laser method could make glaucoma treatment easier and more accessible

NCT ID NCT06925477

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study compares two laser treatments for open-angle glaucoma: the standard Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) and a newer, automated Direct Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (DSLT). About 51 adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two procedures. Researchers will track changes in eye pressure, medication use, and safety over 12 months to see if the simpler DSLT works as well as SLT, potentially making treatment more comfortable and accessible.
