New balloon could cut hospital stays for dialysis patients

NCT ID NCT02408822

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study compares a drug-coated balloon to a standard balloon for treating narrowed blood vessels used in dialysis. The drug-coated balloon releases a medicine that may prevent the vessel from narrowing again. The goal is to keep the access working longer and reduce the need for repeat procedures and hospital stays. About 52 adults with failing dialysis access are taking part.
