New balloon could cut hospital stays for dialysis patients
NCT ID NCT02408822
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study compares a drug-coated balloon to a standard balloon for treating narrowed blood vessels used in dialysis. The drug (paclitaxel) helps prevent the vessel from narrowing again. Researchers want to see if the special balloon keeps the access working longer, reducing the need for repeat procedures and hospital stays. About 52 adults with failing dialysis access are taking part.
