Balloon treatment may help stabilize dangerous heart plaques

NCT ID NCT06416813

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a drug-coated balloon (a small balloon that delivers medicine inside the artery) along with standard medications can help people with acute coronary syndrome who have unstable plaques in their heart arteries. About 140 participants are randomly assigned to get either standard care alone or standard care plus the balloon treatment. The main goal is to see if the balloon helps keep the artery more open after one year.
