New blood filter could give liver patients a lifeline

NCT ID NCT07178366

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a blood filtering treatment called DPMAS for people with acute-on-chronic liver failure, a sudden worsening of chronic liver disease that can be life-threatening. About 56 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus DPMAS, which removes harmful toxins from the blood. The goal is to see if DPMAS improves liver function and survival without needing a transplant.
