Timing is everything: new study reveals how surgery delays impact anal fistula healing

NCT ID NCT07482241

First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at whether the time you wait for anal fistula surgery affects how well you heal. Researchers will follow 90 adults who have surgery and group them by how long they had symptoms (3 months or less, 3-6 months, or over 6 months). The goal is to see if waiting longer leads to more complications or a higher chance of the fistula coming back within a year.
