First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study collects bone marrow that would otherwise be thrown away during surgery. Researchers will use these samples to develop better gene therapies and treatments for blood disorders like sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. Up to 50 people with and without these conditions will participate. The goal is to learn how to safely and effectively fix faulty blood stem cells in the lab.
