First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether a talking therapy called dignity therapy can help terminally ill patients maintain their sense of dignity and reduce feelings of depression and hopelessness. 45 patients in Taiwan were randomly assigned to receive either dignity therapy or standard hospice care. Researchers measured their dignity, mood, and mental state right after the therapy and again at 1, 3, 6, and 9 months. The goal was to see if this approach improves emotional well-being at the end of life.
