First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a talking therapy called dignity therapy for terminally ill patients. 45 adults receiving end-of-life care were randomly assigned to either dignity therapy or standard hospice care. Researchers measured their sense of dignity, feelings of hopelessness, and depression right after the therapy and again at 1, 3, 6, and 9 months. The goal was to see if this therapy could help patients maintain dignity and feel less distressed at the end of life.
