Eye-Opening study: do supplements slow nearsightedness in kids?

NCT ID NCT07406906

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking dietary supplements can improve the health of the back part of the eye in children with nearsightedness (myopia). About 156 children aged 8 to 13 will be randomly assigned to receive either a supplement or a placebo (fake pill) for a period of time. Researchers will use special eye scans to measure changes in the thickness and blood vessels of the choroid, a layer behind the retina, to see if the supplements help control myopia progression.
