Sunshine and vitamin B2: a cheap fix for bulging corneas?
NCT ID NCT03095235
First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested a simple, low-cost approach for keratoconus, a condition where the cornea thins and bulges, causing blurry vision. Instead of expensive laser therapy, participants took vitamin B2 (riboflavin) pills and spent 15 minutes in natural sunlight daily. The goal was to see if this could strengthen the cornea and stop the disease from getting worse. The study was terminated early, so results are limited, but early observations suggested it might be a safe and affordable alternative.
