Fasting-Mimicking diet may boost colorectal cancer surgery outcomes

NCT ID NCT05384444

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special low-calorie diet, called a fasting-mimicking diet, given before and after surgery can help colorectal cancer patients recover faster and reduce the chance of cancer coming back. About 600 patients undergoing their first colorectal cancer surgery will be randomly assigned to either the diet or standard care. The goal is to see if this dietary approach improves survival and overall recovery.
