Summary
This study tested whether drinking beetroot juice (a source of nitrate) along with taking vitamin C could improve blood pressure and blood vessel function better than beetroot juice alone. It involved 15 overweight adults aged 50-75, who are at higher risk for heart problems. Researchers compared the effects of the combined supplements against a placebo and beetroot juice by itself.
