First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested three culturally-tailored diet patterns (U.S.-Style, Mediterranean, and Vegetarian) in 63 African American adults with overweight or obesity and at least three risk factors for type 2 diabetes. Over 12 weeks, researchers measured changes in diet quality, body weight, blood sugar, and blood pressure. The goal was to see if making these diets more culturally relevant could help reduce diabetes risk.
