Pre-Surgery diet may stop colorectal cancer recurrence

NCT ID NCT06349590

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether eating a high-fiber, low-fat diet for three weeks before colorectal cancer surgery can change gut bacteria to help prevent the cancer from coming back or spreading. About 80 adults with colorectal cancer will follow this diet and provide blood, stool, and tumor samples. Researchers will track participants for up to five years after surgery to see if the diet affects cancer recurrence.
