Scientists probe Gut's role in why muscles weaken with age
NCT ID NCT07211321
Summary
This study aims to understand the connections between diet, gut bacteria, and the loss of muscle mass and strength in older adults (sarcopenia). Researchers will collect information from 1,220 people aged 60+ about their diet, test their muscle function, and analyze their gut bacteria from stool samples. The goal is to learn how inflammatory foods might affect muscle health through changes in gut bacteria, which could inform future dietary advice.
