New study tests faster way to spot lung lining cancer during biopsy

NCT ID NCT07286045

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at 33 adults with unexplained fluid around the lungs (pleural effusion) who needed a scope procedure (thoracoscopy). Doctors compared two ways to tell if the tissue was cancerous or not: looking at it with the naked eye during the procedure, and a quick lab test (ROSE) done right there. The goal was to see which method gives a faster, more accurate diagnosis compared to the standard final lab report.
