Scientists search for clues in kidneys to stop rapid decline

Summary
This study aims to understand why some people with diabetes lose kidney function much faster than others. Researchers will collect kidney tissue, blood, and urine samples from 400 diabetic patients who are already scheduled for a medically necessary kidney biopsy. By comparing samples from 'rapid progressors' with those from slower progressors, the study hopes to identify biological markers and pathways that could lead to future treatments.
