Smart pens and glucose monitors could transform diabetes care after hospital stay

NCT ID NCT07061301

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving people with type 2 diabetes a continuous glucose monitor and a smart insulin pen cap at hospital discharge helps them stick to their insulin schedule and control blood sugar better. About 80 adults who start insulin while in the hospital will be split into two groups: one sees real-time data from the devices, the other uses standard finger-prick checks. Researchers will track missed doses, time in target blood sugar range, and patient satisfaction over 12 weeks.
