Bridging the gap: new program aims to get Life-Changing diabetes tech to kids who need it most
NCT ID NCT05849753
Summary
This study aims to see if helping children from lower-income families get approved for and start using advanced, automated insulin delivery systems (closed-loop technology) can improve their diabetes control and reduce health disparities. It will enroll 50 children and teens with type 1 diabetes who have suboptimal blood sugar control and come from families with lower socioeconomic status. Researchers will provide insurance navigation support, prescribe the devices, and then compare blood sugar metrics and quality of life before and after starting the technology over 3 to 6 months.
