Steroid users: which diabetes test is best?
NCT ID NCT04258293
First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study aims to find the most effective way to screen for diabetes in people who take glucocorticoids (steroids) for more than three months. Steroids can raise blood sugar and cause diabetes, but current screening methods vary. Researchers will compare three tests—fasting blood sugar, blood sugar after a sugary drink, and a long-term blood sugar marker—in 75 non-diabetic adults to see which catches steroid-induced diabetes best.
