New drug combo trial aims to put diabetes into remission
NCT ID NCT07374328
Summary
This study is testing two different three-drug combinations to see which is better at helping people with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes achieve normal blood sugar levels and potentially enter remission. The trial involves 240 hospitalized patients who will receive either a weekly injection (semaglutide) or a daily pill (sitagliptin), along with two other standard diabetes medications. After 6-8 months of treatment, patients who achieve good blood sugar control will stop all diabetes medications for 3 months to see if remission lasts.
