Scientists search for hidden clues in spit and blood
NCT ID NCT07498894
Summary
This study aimed to better understand the links between gum disease, type 2 diabetes, and diabetic kidney disease by measuring specific inflammation markers. Researchers compared levels of these markers in the saliva and blood of 126 people with either newly diagnosed diabetes or diabetes with kidney problems, who also had different levels of gum health. The goal was to see if these markers could help explain how these conditions are connected.
