Summary

This study looked at whether a diabetes education program plus cinnamon supplements could help adults with type 2 diabetes who have painful nerve damage in their feet. Sixty-two participants were split into two groups and followed for six months. Researchers measured changes in blood sugar, cholesterol, body weight, and pain levels.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
cinnamon supplement
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to help manage blood sugar and nerve pain in people with type 2 diabetes.
What could go wrong
This was a small, short-term study (62 people, 6 months) without a placebo, so results may not be reliable or apply to everyone. Cinnamon supplements can also interact with other medications.
