Sugar water shots may ease tailbone pain in new trial

NCT ID NCT07552298

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether injecting a sugar-water solution (dextrose prolotherapy) into the tailbone area can reduce pain and improve daily function in people with long-term coccydynia (tailbone pain). The trial will include 40 adults who have had tailbone pain for over 6 months and haven't gotten better with standard treatments. Participants will receive either the sugar-water injection or a placebo, and researchers will measure pain levels and functional ability over time.
