First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether a sedative called dexmedetomidine, given during chest surgery, helps the lungs re-inflate and recover afterward. One hundred adults having lung surgery received either the drug or a placebo. The goal was to see if the drug improves lung aeration and reduces complications like collapsed lungs or pneumonia.
