First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a sedative called dexmedetomidine can help calm agitation and shorten delirium in ICU patients who are not on a breathing machine. 168 adults with sudden confusion and agitation took part. The goal was to see if the drug could reduce the time they spent agitated or delirious, and whether it could prevent the need for a breathing tube.
