Steroid solution tested to boost bone growth for dental implants

NCT ID NCT06556095

Summary

This study tested whether adding a common anti-inflammatory steroid (dexamethasone) to a bone graft helps new bone grow better after a tooth is pulled, compared to using plain salt water. Researchers worked with 44 adults who needed a tooth removed and later a dental implant. They examined tiny bone samples taken during normal implant surgery to see which hydration method produced more new bone after about 16 weeks of healing.
