Can food pictures reveal hidden depression?

NCT ID NCT03060967

Summary

This study aimed to test a new computer-based tool that uses pictures of food to measure two key problems in depression: reduced pleasure (liking) and low motivation (wanting). Researchers planned to compare how people with major depression and healthy volunteers responded to colorful versus black-and-white food images. The goal was to see if this simple test could help doctors better understand and assess depression, but the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
