Dental X-Rays under microscope: new study checks cell damage

NCT ID NCT07330401

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether two types of dental X-rays (OPG and CBCT) cause damage to cells in the mouth. Researchers collected cheek cell samples from 60 people before and 10-12 days after their dental X-ray. They counted micronuclei, which are tiny signs of cell damage, to compare the effects of the two X-ray types across different age groups.
