Dental X-Ray safety check: do they damage your cells?
NCT ID NCT07330401
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether two types of dental X-rays (OPG and CBCT) cause damage to cells inside the mouth. Researchers collected cheek cells from 60 people before and 10-12 days after their dental X-ray. They counted cell changes to see if one type of X-ray is more harmful than the other. The goal is to better understand the safety of these common imaging tests.
