First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests if adding sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to the numbing medicine used during carpal tunnel release surgery can reduce the pain of the injection. About 116 adults with carpal tunnel syndrome will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard numbing medicine or a buffered version with bicarbonate. The main goal is to see if the buffered medicine causes less burning, pressure, and overall pain during the shot.
