Could a common drug stop brain damage after a stroke?
NCT ID NCT04566991
Summary
This study is testing if a drug called deferoxamine can help people recover better after a life-threatening type of brain bleed called an aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The drug works by binding to excess iron released in the brain after the bleed, which is thought to cause further damage. Researchers will give 120 patients at the University of Michigan either one of two doses of the drug or a placebo and track their recovery for six months.
