First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested a process to find and treat patients who carry Staphylococcus aureus in their nose before hip or knee replacement surgery. The goal was to see if this decolonization step reduces surgical site infections and how satisfied patients are with the care. 90 adults who tested positive for the bacteria took part. The approach is simple and focuses on improving safety and comfort for common joint surgeries.
