Scientists probe the Brain's 'Body Map' to unravel mystery of clumsiness
NCT ID NCT05154799
Summary
This study aims to understand the root causes of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), a condition affecting movement and coordination in about 6% of children, which often continues into adulthood. Researchers will test 280 children and adults with DCD, comparing them to healthy volunteers, to see if differences in touch perception, body awareness, and how the brain adapts to using tools explain the motor difficulties. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better support and interventions in the future.
